The partnership will give residents of both parks access to cutting-edge facilities, training programmes, and funding opportunities while facilitating increased trade between the Middle East and Europe
The Moldova Innovation Technology Park (MITP), a nationwide e-park for tech business entrepreneurs, has today signed a landmark memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Sharjah Research, Technology, and Innovation Park (SRTIP), an institution in the United Arab Emirates. The agreement will foster collaboration across academia, business, and government to support and grow IT enterprises across both regions.
The MoU, which was also signed by the Moldova Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalisation, outlines the three parties' commitment to knowledge sharing, upskilling with joint training programmes, shared access to cutting-edge facilities, and collaborative projects which will foster innovation, entrepreneurship, and technology transfer.
“MITP residents will now gain exclusive access to SRTIP’s state-of-the-art facilities, advanced training programs, and substantial funding opportunities. This landmark agreement not only establishes a robust framework for cooperation and collaboration but also sets the stage for significant mutual growth,” said Marina Bzovîi, Administrator of MITP.
Launched by the Moldovan Government in 2018, MITP is dedicated to advancing Moldova's tech ecosystem. With over 21,190 IT specialists benefiting from the park’s incentives, including a single 7 percent tax rate for MITP residents, it is committed to helping businesses drive revenue and grow internationally.
“Moldova is rapidly becoming a global leader in technology excellence. We are committed to implementing policies that support this growth, and our partnership with SRTIP is a crucial step in positioning Moldova at the forefront of digital innovation. This collaboration will not only bring new ideas but also new trade opportunities with the EU,” added Dumitru Alaiba, Moldova Minister for Economic Development and Digitalisation.
The SRTIP aims to create a knowledge-based economy by promoting research and entrepreneurship across healthcare, energy, environment, and technology. The hub supports 22 universities and over 30,00 companies, making it a true cross-industry collaborative platform.
Hussain Almahmoudi, Chief Executive Officer of SRTIP, added: “Our collaboration with MITP will serve as a bridge between the Middle East and Europe. Moldova's strategic location at the crossroads of Europe, combined with its expertise in European culture and legislation, presents valuable opportunities for SRTIP, helping to bolster trade and facilitate beneficial partnerships for our members.”
The MoU, which will remain in effect for three years, was signed today by Almahmoudi, Alaiba, and Bzovîi, during the opening plenary of the Moldovan Digital Summit in Chișinău.
The summit continues until Saturday 8th June and brings together some of the brightest tech minds in Europe, featuring guest speakers from Google, Microsoft, and Mastercard.
