Global System for Mobile Communications Association (GSMA), a partner to Sida, is launching a new innovation fund for mobile technology innovation, focusing on increasing digital inclusion and socio-economic well-being for low-income individuals through increased climate resilience and adaptation. The GSMA Innovation Fund for Climate Resilience and Adaptation 2.0.

The last round of the innovation fund supports 12 grantees in mainly Sub-Saharan Africa and Asia that contribute to financial and digital inclusion, better access to markets for the people living in rural communities, weather mapping system, and increased knowledge of climate-resilient agricultural practices.

In this round, a more significant emphasis is put on strengthening biodiversity as a means of climate resilience with nature-based solutions as high-priority criteria for the project applicants. This fund offers a unique opportunity to dig deeper into the cross-perspective of digitalization and biodiversity using the private market and business models and catalyze innovations in the most effective way.

Fund applications are open today, Tuesday, 14 March (12 PM CET), and will close on Tuesday, 16 May 2023. Please reach out to your partners and colleagues and let them know that the time for applying is now!
