At the beginning of September 2026, Moldova Innovation Technology Park (MITP) surpassed the milestone of 3,000 active resident companies. This achievement follows a significant influx of new residents in August and confirms the steady growth of Moldova’s IT and technology innovation ecosystem.
The company marking the milestone of 3,000 active residents is Underway Company S.R.L., established in the Republic of Moldova in August 2026 by brothers Robert and Kevin Goncear, two Moldovan entrepreneurs who returned home after spending approximately 20 years in Belgium.

An international business growing from Moldova
Underway Company S.R.L. provides technology services and solutions primarily for B2B clients in areas including artificial intelligence, ERP and CRM systems, software development, and SaaS solutions. The company specializes in software architecture and the end-to-end development of web applications and multi-tenant SaaS platforms for international clients.
The Goncear brothers’ return is part of a broader plan to grow the business they built in Belgium, where the parent company has operated since 2018. Robert Goncear oversees administration, sales, and marketing, while Kevin Goncear leads the company’s technical architecture and product development.
“Returning to the Republic of Moldova was both a personal choice and a strategic business decision for us. After spending 20 years in Belgium, we wanted to bring the experience we had gained back home and build the company’s next chapter from here. MITP’s simplified operating framework, the 7% single tax, and the predictability it provides played a decisive role in our decision. We plan to grow the company, expand our local team, and continue serving international clients from the Republic of Moldova,” said Robert Goncear, co-founder of Underway Company S.R.L.
The company’s main markets are Belgium, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, France, the United Kingdom, Italy, and the United States. Its current team comprises four professionals from the Republic of Moldova, the Netherlands, and Morocco. The founders plan to gradually expand both the team and the company’s Moldova-based operations.
“We focus on developing complex, scalable, and secure software solutions, covering everything from technical architecture to the full implementation of applications and SaaS platforms. The Republic of Moldova has highly skilled professionals and an environment that enables technology companies to grow and compete internationally. We want to build a strong technical team here and develop products that address real business needs,” said Kevin Goncear, co-founder and Technical Architect at Underway Company S.R.L.
Eight years of steady growth
MITP began its operations in 2018 with 338 resident companies. Eight years later, the Park is home to more than 3,000 active companies, reflecting both the rapid development of the technology sector and the growing interest among local and international entrepreneurs in the opportunities offered by the Republic of Moldova.
“This evolution represents more than numerical growth. It demonstrates the increasing maturity of the technology sector and the consolidation of the Republic of Moldova as a destination for investment, entrepreneurship, and internationally oriented businesses. The story of Underway Company exemplifies the direction in which we want our ecosystem to evolve: Moldovan entrepreneurs returning home, bringing international experience, building teams, and developing solutions for the global market from the Republic of Moldova,” said Marina Bzovîi, Administrator of Moldova Innovation Technology Park.

“The MITP Register of Residents is dynamic. Every month, new companies obtain resident status, while others cease to hold this status, either as a result of their own business decisions or under the conditions established by the legal framework. For this reason, the relevant indicator for us is the number of companies that hold active resident status and operate under the MITP regime,” said Cristina Ermurachi, Legal Manager at MITP.
Since its launch, MITP has become one of the main pillars of the Republic of Moldova’s digital economy. Its resident companies collectively employ more than 27,000 officially registered employees, while the founders and investors behind companies in the ecosystem come from over 50 countries.
“We offer a unique tax regime, stability guaranteed until 2035, and streamlined procedures for technology companies. Entrepreneurs do the rest, and the example of the Goncear brothers shows how quickly a business can grow when it finds at home the conditions it had previously sought abroad. From 338 resident companies in 2018 to more than 3,000 today, MITP reflects the rapid pace at which the Republic of Moldova is building its own digital economy,” reiterated Michelle Iliev, State Secretary at the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization.

Foreign investment comes primarily from Romania, Ukraine, the United States, Germany, the United Kingdom, France, and Italy. Approximately 90% of the services and products developed by resident companies are intended for export, while the combined revenue of MITP residents is projected to reach approximately MDL 20 billion in 2026.
